Fifth and Maple Joins the Fight for Reproductive Rights

It's a crazy time for America right now. The government is threatening to take away human rights that we've fought hard to obtain. Over the course of the last 8 years, America made strides that many people never thought possible. I mean, seriously, Obama did TONS for equality across the board. He passed the Paycheck Fairness Act of 2014, which ensured that women would be given equal pay. The famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) Affordable Care Act, while not perfect, significantly reduced that amount of uninsured people in the US. He prevented individual states from denying federal funding to Planned Parenthood, ensuring that women were able to access affordable reproductive health care no matter where they lived. And that's just a few of them. I'm sure that right now, I seem like a total Obama nut. I'm not. While he had plenty of great accomplishments, there were also some things that could have been handled better. But that's not what I'm writing you today about.

Women are facing a significant threat. The United States Senate, and the Commander in Chief, are not big supporters of reproductive rights for American women. People seem to forget about all of the totally crucial services that Planned Parenthood provides to low-income families (and not just women, either). Here is a graph outlining the services that Planned Parenthood offers:

As shown in the pie chart, the most prevalent and widely utilized service that they offer, is STI testing and treatment, followed by contraception, cancer screening, other health services, and then abortion. Those who are fighting so strongly against women's rights would like you to believe that Planned Parenthood offers nothing but abortion, which couldn't be further from the truth. It honestly blows me away how many people seem to perceive such a falsity as truth.

Without Planned Parenthood, lots of women would not have access to the healthcare they need:

Yes, it really is as simple as that. It is absolutely VITAL that we stand together to make sure Planned Parenthood sticks around. That's why Fifth and Maple has made the decision to donate 10% of all profits we make to Planned Parenthood. You can also donate directly, if you prefer.

At this time in American history, it is absolutely crucial that we continue the fight for women and their access to affordable health care. Spread the word if you're with me.
